Oldway Mansion was originally founded by Isaac Singer, who made his fortune in the manufacture and sale of sewing machines, to be his home.When he died in 1875 the building was unfinished. His son Paris commissioned artisans to complete it, sending them to the Palace of Versailles for designs.
